The 4 to 2-stroke switch was made, and then Tom and Sam Smith managed to acquire their full race licences!
Tom and Sam have finally made the switch from 4-stroke pro-karts into the much more professional Jnr. TKM 2-strokes. Doing eight of the ten Whilton rounds and the televised prestigious TKM festival this year, they have full team backing and each have a spare kart, engine, and a mechanic.

The first piece in the jigsaw was for Tom and Sam to take their ARKS test to obtain their licences. This was easily acheived, with both of them scoring 100%, a really great start to our racing careers!

Next, the brothers from Leicestershire had to do 5 novice races to upgrade to their proper, full licences. Although a tedious job, Tom and Sam did it very professionally, and are now off their novice plates, and racing in Jnr. TKM Intermediate, a more powerful class compared to Jnr. TKM for competitors 13-16 yrs. of age.

Where to catch the boys this year
After originally wanting to run in the P.F.I. race series, and being put off by the boring track, Tom and Sam are racing at Whilton Mill on the last weekend of every month except August until September in the teams big red Awning. However, the highlight of the brothers' season will come at the TKM festival, a 3-day event from 9-11 August! It will be the only meeting where they will be the teams top two drivers, with team regular Richard Hughes not racing, as he now races Rotax Max.
Tom and Sam now run SJRacing, and will be testing at Stretton 2000 at Leicester Airport throughout the year. Drop me an e-mail if you have any questions.
